Munich – The Arrival

We said good bye to our love Emma and Pops took us to IAH for our departure to the old world. Taking off with British Airways headed to London with nine hours ahead of us and two and half hours to Munich Germany, I knew this was going to be a tough one. I never want to discourage anyone from getting out and experiencing the world with their own eyes and meeting amazing people… but this plane trip was one for the books.

Gabriel and I found our round trip tickets back in March for an amazing price of only $615 so we really scored and felt like we couldn’t complain much as long as we made it safely. Needless to say we found ourselves sitting behind a few of Mexico’s soccer fans headed to Moscow for the World Cup and they needed their sleep in order to cheer for Mexico. Unfortunately their sleep was in our laps. Gabriel’s chair wouldn’t lay back and I am pretty sure the chair in front of me laid back more than any other on the plane. Tracking the plane from the monitor I could see we were right over Kentucky about two hours in, the flight attendants started passing out dinner with the options chicken and rice and pasta ravioli. Gabriel and I opted for the ravioli because chicken marsala just didn’t sound the best option for the six hours ahead we had. It wasn’t even five minutes into being served our food and the plane drops at least 150 ft. I see Gabriel’s salad floating in the air and wine and beverages on the ceiling and people screaming – it was a lot all at once. The British flight attendants doing their best to calm everyone down with their amazing accents… Right then I knew this was going to be a trip to remember.

Eight Hours and forty-seven minutes later we arrived to Heathrow airport in London. Looking out the window I could finally see the city that I have only seen in movies. Spoting the London Eye and the Big Ben I just knew one day I would be back to discover London. As soon as we landed we headed to our next terminal for Munich. We spotted the Harry Potter store which I knew was a must for Gabriel.

Just so happen to be the only store we went into hehe. The flight to Munich felt like a breeze and the airport was quite easy to maneuver besides the long line for customs. Seven hours ahead from our loved ones back home, we walked out of the airport to find our dreams came true. It was sixty degrees and the fresh air completely changed our minds from the most tiring journey to “I cant wait to see GERMANY!”.

Carrying two backpacks and two luggages we raced to find the S-bahn S8 rail to take us into the city. Being new to any kind of transportation other than automobiles can be very difficult, I was lucky with Gabriel knowing how the train system works throughout Munich for he has lived here for sometime prior to me meeting the handsome man. Arriving at the hotel around 3pm we cleaned up and got ready to head out for a little sightseeing even though we were exhausted. Light rain and kind of chili, we needed to make the most of the first day seeing we only had three days in Munich.
