Innsbruck (Day 11) – Tyrol and the infinite Mountains

Waking up in the morning early with no time for breakfast, we got dressed and packed up our luggages. When we first arrived in Salzburg I was down to my last pair of underwear and day clothes and the B&B offered to wash and dry a load of laundry for us… I really didn’t know what I was thinking when I was packing because I ran out of clothes way too fast. Come to find out the dryer had broken down and by the time we were ready to check out we still didn’t have all of our clothes, so we had to load my suitcase up with wet clothes to catch our train to Innsbruck. They comped us the two breakfasts we had the days before so we couldn’t really complain. We walked to the central station with our luggage’s, which was only about a fifteen minute walk, and boarded the two and half hour train ride to Innsbruck.

Innsbruck is a city in a region called Tyrol, which is traditional for its alps and mountains. Arriving in Innsbruck we check into our fancy hotel called the “Nala Individual”… it was one of the hotels we spent a little more money on because we would only be here one night.

It was a very artistic and modern hotel and our room was ready by the time we arrived, so we dropped our bags and headed straight for the old town. The city is beautiful and has a super cute old town filled with nice historical buildings. The most famous one (and where everyone poses for picture) is called the “golden roof”.

After some time walking around and smelling amazing food everywhere, we decided we would have pizza for a late lunch. We chose the “Ristorante Republica” and the pizzas WERE AMAZING! Gabriel had the four cheese one and I myself chose a pizza that was similar to a Margarita but also had prosciutto.

After lunch and beers, we took a walk along the river and decided we needed to take the gondola up to the top of the mountain to get a great view of the city. It cost us about $35 each, but was well worth it. I would also advise anyone going there to take a jacket because it was hard for us to keep a straight smile for our pictures while we were shivering cold. I’ll let the pictures show you our view of the wonderful city of Innsbruck.

We made it back to the hotel to get ready for dinner and decided we would go for some more Bavarian food (because we truly love it so much). Dinner was at a super traditional restaurant called “Stiftskeller” which was like a German beer garden. You can never go wrong with a Wiener Schnitzel, and it didn’t disappoint.
