Innsbruck, Mieders, and Munich (Day 12) – Downhill Ride With the Cows MOO!

Today was the day we had been dreading since we started this trip – our last full day here in Europe – and we were going to make the best of it! After we had a very fancy breakfast at the Nala hotel, we checked out and left our bags at the reception. Traveling with two large luggages and backpacks is hard if you have to check out of the hotel early and still spend half the day in the same town. I love that in Europe the hotels will store your luggages even if you don’t have a room – it’s so great, I am sure they do that in the states but I guess I am use to having a car to throw it into. Today was the day we had planned to do the downhill coaster in the city of Mieders, which had been in our bucket list since we started planning this trip. Gabriel and I weren’t for sure that it would even be open (the website didn’t have much information on times and price), so we were just going to go and see if we got lucky.

We took a twenty-five minute bus ride to Mieders, right outside of Innsbruck, and to our luck the alpine coaster WAS OPEN!!! We took the gondola up and it was super neat because you could hear all the cow bells below as they were eating and enjoying life as a cow. At the top of the mountain we walked around and took lots of pictures… I took more of the cows then anything. Funny story: as I was admiring all the moo-moo’s, I wanted to take a selfie with them and got closer to where they were. All of a sudden I leaned against an electric fence and BAMMM – I was shocked to my toes (It was a clear state of shock)! All I see is Gabriel laughing at me and wishing he had got that on video. HAHAHA. After enjoying the top of the mountain and two beers at a small restaurant they had there, it was finally time for us to go down on the coaster. IT WAS AWESOME! The whole ride was a lot of fun and gave us the best views of the city and the alps around us. It was the best ending to our trip to Mieders.

We rode back to Innsbruck by bus and decided to walk the town a little more and do some souvenir shopping to bring home some gifts for our family and friends. The little souvenir shops in Innsbruck were so cute and had so many things to choose from. I won’t post pictures of the things we bought because we haven’t been able to give them away yet. After grabbing our bags from the hotel, we headed to the central station to enjoy a traditional Doner Kebab before our trip, which Gabriel and I absolutely love.

We then left Innsbruck and finally took a bus back to Munich, were we had first started our trip. The ride was quite short (less than two hours), but very beautiful. After checking in at the Holiday Inn Express in Munich, we dropped our luggage’s and took one last stroll through Munich’s center. We went again to Marienplatz, which is where the old and new city halls are, so we could have a German beer and take in some Munich’s atmosphere one last time. After that, we had a nice dinner at ‘Zum Augustiner’ for some Bavarian food for the last time.

This trip has been one Gabriel and I will never forget. The best thing in the world is being next to the person you love and marking your footprints on the world together. Never be afraid to see something new or meet new people and experience the world. Just don’t forget to do it with a Smile, Humor & Love.

With Love,  Gabriel & Drew
